Fitness 101 - How to Bring Back Your Exercise Habit

It's been months since you last worked out. You used to have a perfectly regular exercise routine but something happened so you stopped working out. Now that all those things that kept you from working out have been settled, you're having a hard time to get back to your usual fitness routine. You just can seem to get your fitness mojo back. Does this situation sound familiar? Well, here's the thing, don't be too hard on yourself. If you're used to a habit, in this case, an exercise habit, it does become automatic. You get used to it, your body gets used to it, so once you stop that routine for a long period of time, it can really be hard to get started again. Fortunately, there are ways that you can do to bring back your exercise habit. Let me share to you some of them.
1. Exercise for 21 days. Experts say that if you do something 21 days in a row, it becomes a habit. However, 21 days isn't enough to build lasting habits. You need to constantly motivate yourself to workout to make your newfound fitness mojo last beyond 21 days.

2. Workout the same time every day. If you keep on telling yourself to exercise on your free time, there is a big chance that you'll just fall off your routine all over again. Set a time, be it early morning, lunchtime, after work or after dinner and make sure that you stick to it. If you do something at the same time every day, it will become a stronger and longer lasting habit.

3. Don't do intense exercises right away. Remember that it's been a while since you've last exercised, so don't overwhelm yourself with high intensity workouts right away. It is best to do things slowly and keep it gradual as you progress to your old fitness level.

4. Don't break your habit. You know how hard it is to get back to your old exercise habit so once you've got your fitness mojo back, don't stop. Avoid having long breaks in exercising and just keep it going.
5. Spice up your fitness routine. If you don't enjoy what you're doing, then you can't keep it as a habit. There are literally hundreds of ways you can do to exercise, you can dance, hike, swim, do martial arts, do yoga and many more. Many gyms offer a range of fitness programs so you might want to try them to keep things interesting.
